The first day of any class fills students with nervous anticipation about what’s to come. That’s certainly true during the orientation of the Pathway to Career Class hosted by the Austin Area Urban League (AAUL). It’s the third such class offered by the AAUL during the organization’s 40th anniversary.
“Moonshine Sweet Tea recognizes the long history of the Austin Area Urban League and its goal of providing self-enrichment resources including the Pathway to Career Class,” said Moonshine Sweet Tea CEO Remmy Castillo. “Our company is proud to be a sponsor of the Second Annual Soul of the City Golf Tournament benefitting the AAUL.”
The Soul of the City Golf Tournament takes place Tuesday, May 23 at the Avery Ranch Golf Course in Austin, Texas. Proceeds from the tournament make it possible for adults who are changing careers to gain new skills, update their resumes and brush up on their interview skills.
“The Austin Area Urban League’s mission is to provide tools to African Americans and underserved populations to build a foundation for social and economic equality”, said Teddy McDaniel AAUL President. “We value partners like Moonshine Sweet Tea in expanding our reach to all Austin communities.”
In addition to computer skills, the class offers guidance in personal budgets, earning potential, life skills, and self-sufficiency. The goal of instructors is to be sure students are not just job ready – but life ready.
