(October 17, 2017) Make A Wish parents are understandably grateful when their child’s wish is granted because it helps to ease the medical challenges their youngster is facing. Wishes provide a temporary escape from hospitals, doctors, pain, medical bills and sometimes fear of the unknown. So it was unexpected and very touching for Milton Verret, the owner of Moonshine Sweet Tea to receive a letter from a mom thanking him for the wish he helped to grant her daughter in 2011.
With the mom’s permission, we are sharing portions of her letter and an update about her daughter, Julie who graduated from high school recently and is now a pre-pharmacy student. Although she uses a motorized wheelchair and still has scarring on her lungs from her medical condition, Julie is happy and thriving. Her mom says Julie takes life one day at a time and each day is a time to be thankful for life and the many blessings she continues to receive.
Here’s an excerpt from the letter to Milton Verret and Make A Wish of Central and South Texas:
“It has been almost five years since your organization fulfilled our Julie’s wish to meet her favorite singer Taylor Swift at one of her concerts. Through you and all the donors and wonderful people behind the scenes made it possible for Julie to go to Dallas, stay in a fabulous hotel, visit the Dallas Zoo, be declared a lady at the Medieval Time Restaurant, and most of all, to have the opportunity to meet, hug, and interview Taylor Swift.
From that wonderful experience, Julie found something to reminisce, something to look back to make her say, that hey, life is not all bad after all. By fulfilling her wish, Julie was able to have a renewed faith that enable her to strengthen her resolve to keep the fight.”
The entire experience with Make-A-Wish is one that will always be in our hearts and we will continue to try our best to give back and help other kids’ wishes come true.
God bless to all of you and more power!
Julie’s Mom”
Moonshine Sweet Tea is thankful to Julie and her mom – and to our customers who make it possible for us to continue to support children’s charities including Make A Wish.
