Moonshine Sweet Tea is proud to be part of the fight against childhood cancer by participating in the annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Fair and the St. Balderick’s Foundation head-shaving challenge.
Saturday, April 15, 2017 proved to be a beautiful day for young cancer patients and their families to attend both events held in the Healing Garden of Dell Children’s Medical Center. The Childhood Cancer Awareness Fair featured more than 20 organizations and resources that support pediatric oncology research, including Moonshine Sweet Tea. Visitors enjoyed face-painting and other fun activities, performance groups and yummy drinks and food samples.
Following the fair, a true “hair-raising” good time featured boys, girls, women and men who lined up to have their heads shaved as part of a nationwide fundraising campaign. More than 1,000 similar events were staged in other communities nationwide to raise funds for the St. Balderick’s Foundation. It’s estimated more than $25 million dollars will be raised for childhood cancer research thanks to the “shavees” who were willing to go bald. The move also shows solidarity with young cancer patients who often lose their locks during their treatment.
Moonshine Sweet Tea would like to thank all the young patients and their families, medical care givers and volunteers who stopped by to say hi, taste our product, and snap a photo. Together, we are happy to support pediatric oncology research now underway at the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center of Dell Children’s Medical Center!
